With only three weeks until the launch of Arc Raiders, developer Embark Studios has decided to lower the game’s price in multiple regions on Steam to promote a more equitable gaming experience.

Gamers who have previously purchased the game in the newly adjusted currencies will automatically receive a refund.

Importance of Local Pricing
While gaming prices are typically listed in USD, GBP, and EUR, many regional prices on Steam allow for local pricing that is meant to favor consumers outside these major currencies. However, the effectiveness of such pricing often varies; some regions enjoy a lower price, while others find the costs disproportionately high compared to what converts from local currencies.

The adjustments made by Embark reflect an effort to make the game available at fairer pricing across various locales. Embark stated on their Discord that, “We’ve been working on reducing the price of Arc Raiders across multiple locations to ensure a more fair price point for all”. The developers specifically mentioned regions like Brazil, China, India, and Vietnam where gamers will see significant price reductions.

For example, in Brazil, the price decreased from R$235 down to R$172. In Vietnam, the price dropped from ₫1,040,000 to ₫746,000.

This movement towards fair pricing is encouraged as companies increasingly recognize the necessity of addressing global economic disparities in gaming.
