
The classic McDonald’s Monopoly game is making a comeback, and this time, Monopoly GO is joining the festivities with a unique collaboration. This special event offers players of the mobile game a free in-game item and gives McDonald’s customers a chance to win prestigious prizes.
The Monopoly game has had a long-running partnership with McDonald’s since its inception in 1987, initially rewarding customers with prizes through collectible game pieces found on food packaging. The latest version of this collaboration is similar but integrates the McDonald’s app for prizes and additional winning opportunities.
Collaboration Details
Following the announcement in September that the Monopoly event would return for a limited time, the updated version officially launched on October 6, marking its first occurrence in the U.S. since 2018. As a result, this is the first opportunity for Scopely’s popular mobile game, Monopoly GO, released in 2023, to participate.
Prizes for in-store game players include six trips for four people, each valued at $50,000, to actual locations depicted in Monopoly GO, including destinations like Tokyo and Paris.
In-game rewards related to the Monopoly event are also being offered to players, such as a new shield skin inspired by McDonald’s signature fry box, available through a specific promotional link.
Additional in-game benefits include bonus dice rolls and custom tokens, supplementing the physical rewards offered by McDonald’s, which encompass free meals, electronics, and even a million-dollar prize.
