UK Police Detain Two Teens Linked to Nursery Cyberattack Exposing Toddler Data

Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with a severe cyberattack on a nursery chain in the UK that led to sensitive information about children being leaked online.

In late September, alarming news emerged regarding a cyberattack perpetrated by a group named Radiant on a software provider, Famly, which granted them access to a UK nursery chain, Kido. The attack involved the posting of information and images of toddlers on a dark web platform, accompanied by ransom demands for additional data to be withheld.

The police, following an investigation, arrested two 17-year-old boys in Hertfordshire for suspected computer misuse and blackmail. According to Will Lyne, the Metropolitan Police’s Head of Economic and Cybercrime, these incidents can significantly distress concerned parents and guardians. Law enforcement has expressed the importance of addressing such crimes swiftly to restore community confidence.

The attack, which attracted widespread revulsion, led the hackers to blur images and eventually delete all materials from their site, initially demanding a £600,000 ransom in Bitcoin. The police’s prompt action was welcomed, emphasizing a crucial step in ensuring accountability for these unlawful acts.
