After recent concerns about declining player numbers for Rainbow Six Siege X, Ubisoft has made clear its intentions to address issues surrounding cheating and improve communication with the community. Game Director Joshua Mills and Creative Director Alex Karpazis admit that they have not effectively communicated updates since the game transitioned to free-to-play.
Following the X update’s launch, player counts surged, hitting over 142,000 simultaneous players on June 10. However, numbers have since dipped below pre-update levels, raising concerns among players. Recent reviews on Steam show a decline, now rated as “mixed,” largely due to a reported increase in cheating incidences.
Ubisoft aims to enhance the game’s anti-cheat systems, in part due to the influx of cheaters since its free release. In their latest update, Mills and Karpazis outlined commitments, including:
- Prioritizing a fun gaming experience with a shift towards buffs rather than nerfs in balance updates.
- Major alterations to the Ranked play system.
- A pledge to provide more substantial content in mid-season updates.
Ubisoft’s executives emphasize the importance of player feedback, stating, “Your passion and commitment keep Siege growing. Your priorities are our priorities, and together we’ll keep building Siege into the best it can be.”
