Steam Grants Refund to Destiny 2 Player After Over 2,000 Hours Played

A gamer with over 2,000 hours in Destiny 2 receives a refund from Steam due to region-specific access issues.

A Destiny 2 player racked up 2,000 hours of gameplay and successfully obtained a refund from Steam after facing accessibility issues. Following recent reports that Destiny 2 became unplayable for users in certain regions, the player, known as trashcanslover, contacted Steam for a refund. Despite being above the typical refund policy threshold, which usually limits requests to within 14 days or under two hours of played time, Steam made an exception. This case came amid significant player loss, with Destiny 2 reportedly losing 80% of its active players after the release of the content The Edge of Fate due to severe gameplay issues.

The player’s situation escalated as several users from areas like Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus lost access without formal explanation, only for Bungie to state that “Destiny services are not available where access is restricted by law.” This unavailability prompted trashcanslover to bring their circumstance to Steam support, resulting in the unusual refund approval.
