Halo TV Show Achieves Significant Popularity on Netflix

Paramount's adaptation of Halo gains traction on Netflix, becoming a top series shortly after its release.

Paramount’s adaptation of Halo has made its way to Netflix, quickly becoming one of the service’s most-watched series. The show originally aired for two seasons from 2022 to 2024, receiving mixed reviews, but it is now gaining a new lease on life as it expands to more regions.

In March, selected regions were able to access the first season on Netflix, and as of October 1, both seasons are now available to audiences in the U.S. The show has rapidly climbed the charts, peaking as the fourth most-watched series in the country. Previous viewing numbers from its original run were never disclosed, but the response on Netflix so far indicates a significant revival of interest in the show.

Despite its rocky start, Halo stands as a testament to the evolving landscape of video game adaptations. Shows like HBO’s The Last of Us and Netflix’s Arcane have paved the way for more faithful adaptations, and while some viewers criticized Halo for straying from its source material, it found a warm reception from viewers unfamiliar with the franchise. There are even calls for a film adaptation now that the series has ended.

Paramount may be distancing itself from Halo, but it has new ventures in motion, collaborating with Activision to develop a long-anticipated Call of Duty movie, aimed at expanding this beloved franchise to a broader audience.
