The creator assures fans that Dragon Quest 12 is being worked on and is set to honor the memory of its late contributors.

The last installment of the Dragon Quest series was released in 2017.

Dragon Quest fans have been waiting for news about the upcoming Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate. In a recent livestream, Yuji Horii expressed his commitment to developing this next chapter while honoring the late artist Akira Toriyama and composer Koichi Sugiyama, whose contributions have been pivotal to the series.

Horii has assured players that the development team is ‘working hard on Dragon Quest 12’, and they will provide updates gradually. He aims to ensure the new game exceeds the expectations associated with the previous titles.

He stated: “While I can’t share any details yet, I want it to be something worthy of the posthumous work of the two who passed away. I’ll do my best!”

As the gaming world awaits further announcements, fans can look forward to a darker and more mature tone for this entry, along with significant changes to the traditional gameplay mechanics. The Dragon Quest franchise continues to be a key title for Square Enix, and the anticipation for its next release remains high.
