The well-loved Team Fortress 2 Classic mod is preparing for an open beta launch on Steam starting October 13. This updates the classic gameplay experience to modern standards while retaining the nostalgic charm that fans love.
Originally introduced in 2014, this mod allows gamers to experience Team Fortress 2 without the added complexities introduced over the years. Developers Eminoma cited the absence of hats and excessive bots as key features of this version that aim to rekindle the original’s spirit.
In a recent announcement, Nito, a developer on the project, stated:
“We’re not sure if mods are normally at Next Fest, but the opportunity presented itself and we took it! We have been working overtime for the past month to get ready for this, and I could not be more proud of the devs who have been toughing it out.”
The beta will feature exclusive weaponry, game modes, and maps. Participants can download the mod from Steam once it goes live. Additional enhancements such as damage feedback and balanced gameplay tweaks are also anticipated.
For those wishing to join in on the fun, remember that having Team Fortress 2 is necessary, but don’t worry; it’s free to download.
The Team Fortress 2 Classic open beta will run for two weeks, concluding on October 27.
