A recent interview with the developers of Resident Evil Requiem revealed that they nearly subjected Grace, the new protagonist, to one of the darkest moments encountered by Ethan Winters in Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. The developers discussed how they aim to develop Resident Evil Requiem without excessively amping up the action found in Resident Evil Village.
In a conversation with IGN, director Koshi Nakanishi and producer Masato Kumazama reflected on the game’s direction, highlighting an idea where Grace would potentially endure a traumatic leg injury akin to how Ethan loses his hand. They initially thought this approach would elevate the game’s terror factor. However, they ultimately decided to avoid this concept before any development on the game began.
In summary, while this chilling element did not make it to the final design, players should still brace for numerous dreadful experiences within Resident Evil Requiem. Gamers will have options to choose their preferred view, either third-person for detachment, or first-person for an immersive experience.
