Call of Duty Set to Reintroduce Blackout Mode in 2026

Activision confirms the return of the Blackout mode from Call of Duty in a future update for the Warzone franchise, eliciting excitement among gamers.

Activision is set to unveil a fresh experience inspired by Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode, scheduled for Spring 2026. This mode marked the franchise’s first dive into battle royale seven years ago before the launch of Call of Duty: Warzone.

During the Call of Duty Next event, the confirmation of a Blackout-themed experience for Warzone was announced. Set to be located on Avalon, this map will also play a part in the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on November 14. The franchise’s official Twitter highlighted this mode as “a bold new experience,” featuring players wearing wingsuits soaring through Avalon’s skies.

Fans have shown palpable excitement about Blackout’s return, some users expressing that they are “very happy” to see both Blackout and Avalon poised for Warzone’s future. The audience indicates that many players have welcomed this news enthusiastically, especially those who enjoyed the Blackout mode in Black Ops 4 and have longed for its revival since.
