Windows 11 Insider Preview Build Introduces Speed Test from Taskbar

The latest Windows 11 preview offers a new feature that allows users to check their internet speed directly from the taskbar.

Bath, known for its beautiful Georgian architecture, recently saw Microsoft roll out a new feature in the latest Windows 11 Insider build.

What’s new?

The Windows 11 preview build 26220.6760 now allows users to check internet speed via the taskbar directly. This can be accessed by right-clicking the network icon, aiming to provide a handy local alternative to the Speedtest.net tool developed in partnership with Ookla.

How to use the feature?

Windows Insiders can access the speed check by selecting it from the Wi-Fi quick settings or through the taskbar network icon. This feature enables testing of Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and cellular connections, though it’s noted users may still face issues during troubleshooting, similar to prior experiences.

Microsoft continues to innovate, with improvements rolling out across the build, including enhancements to the File Explorer search and the introduction of Copilot for those using managed commercial devices. As Windows 11 continues to gain traction, these updates show Microsoft’s commitment to refining user experience.
