During a recent podcast interview, Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang declared that the U.S. must strive to keep pace with China in the realm of AI technology and chip manufacturing. Huang asserted that China is “nanoseconds behind” the U.S. in this key sector.
“We’re up against a formidable, innovative, hungry, fast-moving, underregulated competitor in China,” Huang remarked, echoing his earlier statements from May regarding the necessity for America to enhance its competitive stance in China’s tech landscape.
Huang praised President Trump’s commitment to ensuring America remains a leader in AI, acknowledging the intense competition as both nations race to establish technological dominance.
However, China has ramped up its own infrastructure within AI, mandating its local data centers to procure at least 50% of their components from domestic manufacturers, indicating a strategic shift to reduce reliance on American technology. Among those leading the charge is Huawei, which is advancing its own chips and systems aimed at closing the technological gap.
