Dan Houser, Co-founder of Rockstar, Absent from Writing in GTA 6: 'The World Has Had Enough GTA from Me'
In a recent interview, Dan Houser clarified his lack of involvement in the development of GTA 6, hinting that the gaming world might have seen all of his contributions.
In a recent interview with IGN, Dan Houser, who played a pivotal role in the creation of the Grand Theft Auto series, stated that he did not contribute to the upcoming GTA 6. He noted, “They’re always a new story. It’s not going to be a story I wrote or a character set that I developed, but I think it’s going to be exciting. The game will be great, I’m sure.”
He reflected on his previous efforts, suggesting, “I wrote the last 10 or 11 [GTAs]. I think the world’s probably had enough GTA from me.”
His departure from Rockstar in 2020 came as he embarked on launching his new venture, Absurd Ventures, which has since produced a range of creative projects, but without a sequel for Bully, due to what he described as ‘bandwidth issues’.
GTA 6 is anticipated to be released on May 26, 2026, and represents a significant entry in the series following the exit of key figures like Houser and producer Leslie Benzies.
