Gamescom’s Opening Night Live showcased numerous action RPGs and soulslike titles. Among the highlights was ‘The Relic: First Guardian’, now topping my Steam wishlist.

Set in a world inspired by Asian folklore, this fantasy RPG offers a wealth of possibilities with over 50 weapon options and things to customize your combat style. Unlike traditional RPG leveling systems, ‘First Guardian’ employs a system of runes and crafting to enhance characters, allowing for flexible build switches typical of soulslike games.

The game promises to challenge players against more than 80 bosses known as ‘Brutals’, each one with a backstory that may elicit sympathy despite being formidable foes. Anticipated to be released in early 2026, you can wishlist it now on Steam.
