I despise spiders. They make me so uneasy that after watching the new trailer for Huntsman, which debuted during the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct, I started scanning my surroundings to ensure there weren’t any lurking nearby.
In the revealed trailer, we see a massive huntsman spider quietly stalking a hapless victim trapped in a lab where these enormous arachnids have escaped. Why anyone would think it wise to enlarge horrifying creatures is beyond comprehension, but some scientists seem unbothered by ethical considerations.
Running isn’t enough; you must also look up since it’s not just the huntsman that’s after you. As the main character navigates the space, an orb weaver spider comes down from the ceiling, adding to the disturbing atmosphere. The suspense built in the trailer isn’t marred by cheap jump scares; rather, it’s an extended moment of dread that makes it intense.
Huntsman has a demo scheduled for October 13, with the full game set to release in November. You can wishlist it on Steam.
