Response from Helldivers 2 CEO on Player Requests for Larger Lobbies

Helldivers 2's CEO addresses player inquiries about the potential for larger game lobbies, indicating performance considerations take precedence.

Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Shams Jorjani has responded to players of Helldivers 2 who inquired about possibilities for larger lobbies. Unfortunately for fans, Jorjani’s reply suggests that hopes for expanded lobbies should be tempered.

Players have the unique opportunity to directly communicate with Jorjani in the game’s Discord server. He answers questions and concerns to the best of his ability, providing a transparent view of the game’s development trajectory.

CEO’s Stance on Performance

In a Discord discussion, when a player asked about the addition of larger lobby capacities for Helldivers 2, Jorjani remarked, “my man, we’re trying to fix performance, not kill it”. He humorously noted that while he could theoretically create 16-player lobbies instantly, it would come at the cost of a plummeting frame rate.
Translation: We are focused on maintaining performance rather than compromising it.

Jorjani’s insights are crucial as the current state of Helldivers 2 has raised concerns over performance with each update. The studio acknowledges that addressing these performance issues is their top priority, making the expansion of lobby sizes a low priority for now.

While larger lobbies are not in the immediate future, updates for Helldivers 2 are ongoing, with the goal of evolving the game continually. Jorjani recently indicated that there are no plans for Helldivers 3, as the focus remains on developing Helldivers 2 into a “forever game” with consistent updates.
