The distribution event for the shiny Koraidon and Miraidon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has faced significant issues. Reports indicate that GameStop quickly ran out of Mystery Gift code cards on the first day of the event.
Players noted that, in addition to the shortage, some codes were listed for resale on eBay, with prices starting around $40. These frustrations are compounded for players who live far from a GameStop, making their chances of participation even more bleak.
The event launched on September 12, marking an important occasion as it allows trainers their first opportunity to acquire shiny variants of these Legendary Pokémon legally. However, the execution has led many to suggest alternative distribution methods could have prevented scalping and better served fans.
In the meantime, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are also hosting the Shiny Treasures of Ruin Mystery Gift event until September 30, which does not require a GameStop visit to participate. Reviews on this latest distribution suggest that The Pokemon Company may need to rethink how such events are conducted in the future.
