Yesterday, Grinding Gear Games announced a surprise update detailing mid-patch changes to Path of Exile 2, particularly revamping the unwieldy tower system that players found frustrating. In a video, Game Director Jonathan Rogers indicated that the developers aimed to give the game more breathing room ahead of the next substantial content update, anticipated for the end of the year.

The 0.3 update, The Third Edict, released in August, was met with enthusiasm by players as it introduced Act 4, allowing characters to bypass previous levels repetitively. However, one persistent complaint remained regarding the endgame.

To optimize mappings and enhance rewards, players faced the laborious task of navigating the Atlas for overlapping towers. Henceforth, the new 0.3.1 update will allow Precursor tablets to be used across all maps, removing the previous ties to towers while bolstering tablet benefits and enriching maps with additional elements such as shrines and rogue exiles.

Moreover, map sizes will be adjusted, making previously cumbersome locations more manageable by introducing bosses on each map that can be defeated for quicker completions. Existing bosses will be replaced with more formidable enemies yielding better loot.

With these changes, players can expect a satisfying mapping experience when the update rolls out next week. Full patch notes will be available in the coming days.
