As someone who grew up free to roam the internet in the early 2000s, Habbo Hotel had a lasting influence on many of us millennials. The upcoming release of Habbo Hotel: Origins on Steam is set to reignite that nostalgia.
Origins aims to be a simplified version of the social MMO, reminiscent of its early browser iterations rather than the NFT-filled content it explored before. It promises to be “Habbo as it was in 2005, lovingly restored” and began its life last summer with a standalone launcher for PC.
Our colleague Harvey Randall noted that the experience feels like diving into an ancient relic preserved in time. Old habits like blocking pool access to declare it closed have started to reappear, bringing back many memories.
After a successful year since its initial release, the team is now preparing for its Steam debut to reconnect with former fans and welcome newcomers. Expect the launch in the next three months, and if you’re anything like me, you’re curious but cautious about revisiting those old memories, bracing for a quick flashback before logging off once more.
