Microsoft has recently confirmed that Forza Horizon 6 will only be available on the PC and Xbox Series X/S at launch, skipping the PlayStation 5. This is dreadful news for PS5 players, as many gamers expected Forza Horizon 6 to have a simultaneous release on Sony’s platform.

Forza Horizon 6 Won’t be on PlayStation 5 at Launch
Unfortunately, Microsoft has confirmed in a new Xbox Wire post that Forza Horizon 6 will “launch first” on Xbox Series X/S and PC in 2026, leaving a simultaneous PS5 release off the table. It’s not yet known when the PS5 release will happen, but Microsoft has confirmed that the developers are currently working on the port. So, PS5 players can at least rest assured that they will get access to the next entry in one of the best open-world racing game series eventually.
While some ports do not take long to be released, Forza Horizon 5 took almost four years to be ported to PS5. Obviously, Microsoft has greatly changed its multiplatform strategy lately, and titles such as Doom: The Dark Ages were simultaneously released on all platforms, while Indiana Jones and the Great Circle only took around five months to arrive on the PS5. So, any wait ranging from a few months to a full year would not be unexpected.
Many gamers are likely to be disappointed with Forza Horizon 6 skipping the PS5 at launch. Forza Horizon 5 was a huge hit on the PS5 when it was released earlier this year, so some people expected Microsoft to go forward and turn it into a multiplatform series from the start. Reports indicate that Forza Horizon 5 sold over 2 million copies on Sony’s console in a single month, which is an incredibly high number for a four-year-old game. Hopefully, it won’t be long before PlayStation 5 owners will finally be able to participate in exciting races in Forza Horizon 6’s version of Japan.
