The Past Revisited: From Friday the 13th to Halloween in Gaming

A new game from the developers behind the Friday the 13th title revisits the horror genre, this time based on the Halloween film.

The Development of a New Horror Game

Developer Illfonic recently unveiled a new horror game inspired by the classic 1978 film Halloween. Following the success of the Friday the 13th game, this latest offering promises to blend aspects of asymmetrical multiplayer gameplay with classic horror atmospherics.

Game Mechanics

The game is set in the iconic Haddonfield, featuring the legendary killer Michael Myers as he stalks four players who must evade and survive. Players will be thrust into a world filled with suspense as they gather resources to protect themselves while trying to alert others about the lurking danger.

A Nod to the Classics

While this game appears to draw significant inspiration from the duo of horror classics, it avoids referencing the many sequels, creating a fresh experience focused on the original film’s essence. The single-player mode will give players a chance to relive key moments through Myers’ perspective.

Anticipation and Release

Fans of the series can look forward to the game, set to launch on September 8, 2026. Illfonic plans to build on the unique mechanics of their previous title while introducing new features, including non-player characters that could enrich gameplay dynamics.

User Engagement

The game encourages survivors to not only evade Myers but also cooperate using various tools to help each other, ultimately leading to escape or survival until dawn.
