AI-Generated Voices Removed from Tomb Raider 4-6 Remaster

The unauthorized AI-generated voice lines in Tomb Raider Remastered have been eliminated following actor complaints.

After the French voice of Lara Croft, Françoise Cadol, filed a cease-and-desist order against Aspyr for using AI-generated voices in the Tomb Raider 4-6 Remaster, the studio has confirmed that all unauthorized AI content has now been removed.

Aspyr announced the change on their support site, stating that a hotfix was released on September 19 to eliminate unauthorized AI-generated content while retaining prior improvements. They apologized for any inconvenience caused, inviting users to report any issues.

This incident arose when both Cadol and Lene Bastos, the Brazilian Portuguese voice actor, accused Aspyr of replacing their original lines with AI-generated counterparts without consent. Cadol described the removal as a win against AI voice cloning and a strong reminder that innovation must honor the ethics of human creativity.

“Innovation must respect ethics and human creators.”
Translation: «L’innovation doit respecter l’éthique et les créateurs humains.»
