The skies over PuffPals: Island Skies have taken a gloomy turn. This charming farming simulator, which managed to secure $2.5 million during its Kickstarter campaign, is now facing a storm of refund requests from backers after its website and online store vanished without notice.
PuffPals: Island Skies
Initially launched on April 6, 2022, and rapidly funded within just 24 hours, PuffPals captured the enthusiasm of thousands with engaging features like fishing and anthropomorphic fruits and vegetables. However, three years later, those expectations have not materialized. Not only has the brand’s presence dwindled, but attempts to visit the official website now redirect to a domain that’s up for sale.
Users who pledged various amounts for perks, including a premium $5,000 tier that allowed backers to design a unique NPC, are now rushing to seek their refunds as fear sets in over the project’s future.
As of May 21, 2025, the last project update suggested management changes but promised a commitment to continue development amid ongoing challenges. Yet, skepticism is mounting regarding the timeline and viability of a product that many anticipated.
Mujin, a YouTuber who took an in-depth look into the situation, pointed out that dividing the total funds raised by backer count averages around $59—almost triple the cost for Early Access.
The absence of any recent communication from the creators, Lily and David, has raised further concerns. Even though the creators indicated their dedication to producing Alpha 2, the recent disappearance from online platforms has left backers doubtful about whether they will ever see the game they were promised.
