Google and Qualcomm to Develop Unified Android Experience for PCs

The tech giants aim to merge mobile functionality with desktop computing through a new version of Android.

Google and Qualcomm are enthusiastic about creating a desktop variant of Android, integrating the mobile and PC experience into a single device. This new initiative was discussed during Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit 2025, highlighting the collaboration between Qualcomm’s CEO, Cristiano Amon, and Google’s SVP of Platforms & Devices, Rick Osterloh.

The goal is to develop a unified system that merges the capabilities of Android with desktop environments. Amon expressed excitement about this project, predicting that it will foster a seamless transition between mobile and desktop computing.

As Qualcomm continues to push into the PC market, this venture could reshape how users engage with their devices, especially if they rely heavily on web functionalities. There are concerns, however, regarding the compatibility of existing PC software and applications that may not be readily available on this new Android-based OS.
